(Ground Ivy Sage)  The true blue flowers, displayed above the large leaves and spreading habit makes this a very special plant.  As a ground cover in shady locations it has no peer.  Fast growing and free blooming, it attracts hummingbirds too.

This native of the Ecuadorian Andes has an extended vertical range - from 3,000 to over 10,000 feet of elevation.  The stems root as they grow, creating a weed suppressing mat.  It does best in moist soils, but will tolerate a wide range of conditions.  It excels as a container plant, the perfect Spiller.

This named variety was selected for its vigor and unusually large flowers.  and yes, they are a true rich deep blue.

The specific name comes from the resemblance of the leaves to plants of the genus Scutellaria or Scullcap.
